Tomorrow's Vintage

A$490.00

DESCRIPTION

As a child, my father always had a grape vine growing in the garden and like many Italian's families, we followed the wonderful yearly ritual of wine making. Perhaps that is why, I have always had a fascination with the beauty of this fruit, particularly the way it hangs like pendulums from the vine. The ancient Greeks & Romans considered grapes to be a gift from the Gods. Grapes almost always featured in the old “Masters” paintings and is a popular still life subject for artists everywhere. In this work, I have applied many layers of overlapping coloured glazes. This makes the rich colours of the fruit and leaves, really pop against the dark shadowy background.

MEDIUM

Acrylic on stretched canvas, sides painted, sealed & ready to hang.

SIZE

40cm (W) x 40cm (H) x 3.8cm (D)
